If there’s anything that the Republicans need right now, I would say it is the need to be united and come together behind one person and run as far center as possible.  Yes, there are die hard, conservatives in the Republican party, but there are many people disillusioned with the party at the moment.  In my own experience, in 2006, I campaigned for the midterm elections at my local GOP office for civic credits.  My job was to call GOP members and make sure they were voting Republican.  SO many of them told me that they were voting Democrat.  They are leaning middle to left because their party simply sucks right now.  It’s ridiculous.  The terrible PR of Republicans getting caught doing God knows what and blocking any thing from going on in the Senate.  It makes total sense to me that McCain is leading right now.

I really respect Romney for pulling out.  Although I think it’s because he wants to save his money for a future election, his claim to want to unify his party or whatever his publicly announced reason was is admirable.  The Republicans really need to unite behind someone if they want to pull this shit out.

Huckabee though feels the need to stick in there for the conservatives.  I think it is in a word annoying.  We’ll see though.  It is only the primaries.  He has no chance.

Movies galore!

As a kid, I absolutely adored Harrison Ford. This resulted in religious viewings of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogies. The Star Wars collection has been added upon, but without Han Solo to my chagrin. Fortunately, you really cannot make an Indiana Jones movie without Harrison Ford. Not only that, but Shia LeBeouf is coming in as well (apparently as Indie’s love child?)!!!

Indiana Jones

There’s really not much more I could possibly want. The movie as far as I am concerned could consist entirely of the two running around fighting Cate Blanchett and I could care less. Although I am appreciative that they are trying to maintain the style of the original films. It comes out March 22, but considering I am a poor college student with no car, god knows when I will actually get to see it.

Other movies on my radar: The Chicago 10 and The Chicago 7; When I learned US history, my teacher told my class that everything happened in 1968 and therefore I am always intrigued by the events of the year. Both these movies are about the Democratic National Convention that year.

If you can’t tell, I’ve been reading Vanity Fair all day and getting inspired.
